Course Description:
Introduction to Women & Gender Studies and Introduction to Sexuality Studies will provide an introduction to fundamental concepts of this interdisciplinary field. In order to pass these courses, students must demonstrate competency in the following:
Knowledge
Familiarity with an overview of the history of the U.S. women's movement and key concepts of feminist theory, including sex, gender, feminisms, sexuality, gender identity and expressions, oppression, intersectionality (intersections of gender with other social constructs), social constructionism, and global women’s issues
Skills
1) ability to perform feminist analysis
2) use of gender as an analytic category
3) capacity to think critically, construct an argument, and write coherently.
